Are Pensioners Eligible For A Free Boiler?
Pensioners in Coventry who are in receipt of Pension Credit Can Apply for the Free Boiler.
Pensioners are still subject to the same criteria regarding boiler age and home Epc Rating.
What Warranty Do You Get With A Free Boiler ?
All boilers that are fitted as part of the Coventry Free Boiler Scheme come with a 2 Year Parts & Labour Warranty.
For a small fee you can pay to extend your warranty to 5 or even 10 years.
What Make Of Boilers Are Fitted On The Scheme?
The boilers fitted on the scheme are usually Worcester Bosch Or Ideals.
Both boilers have been found to be the most reliable boilers and are approved by the Government.
Does The Boiler Have To Be Faulty To Qualify For The Grant?
Boilers do not necesarily have to be faulty to qualify for the free grant.
The boiler has to be below 85% efficiency which most non condensing boilers over 20 years old are.
What Is The Cost Of Boiler Replacement?
The average cost of a new boiler replacement with a small local gas engineer will typically fall between £1800 – £3000 .
This assumes a straight swap with no other work needed.
If you choose to go with a large company such as British Gas EDF etc, you can expect to pay from £3000 – £5500 again assuming a straight swap.

Can Landlords or Tenants apply for a boiler grant ?
No. Landlords are responsible for heating upgrades in rented properties so are not eligible to apply for a free boiler.
Private rented homes have been excluded from The Free Boiler Scheme since 2017.

Are there any Boiler Grants if no boiler fitted?
There Are Free Boilers For Pensioners Even If You Do Not Have A Boiler Fitted.
You Can Apply For The Free Central Heating Grant For Over 60s . This grant will fit you a brand new heating system Free Of Charge if you meet the criteria.
Are There Grants For New Combi Boilers ? - My existing Is A System Boiler?
If you have a system boiler fitted, depending on which installer you are allocated, you may be able to get a free conversion to a combi on the grant scheme.
This will depend on how big a grant you are awarded which does depend on existing insulation levels and your EPC rating.
Any Boiler Grants For northern ireland
The Grant For New Boiler Scheme for NI has now closed to new applications. The UK Eco 4 Scheme is not available to The Republic Of Ireland or Northern Ireland.

Is The Boiler Grant Scheme Open To All Age Boilers?
NO- your boiler needs to be over 17 years old or be a back boiler.
We are getting a lot of applicants from people trying their luck stating their boiler is older than it really is. We check boiler age on the Gas Safe Register which gives us an accurate date of when the boiler was actually installed.
We reject all spurrious applications.
Do boiler grants cover maintenance or repairs?
Boiler grants primarily focus on the replacement of inefficient boilers with energy-efficient models.
They do not cover any maintenance or repairs , apart from any warranty issues that may arise in the 2 year warranty period.
Is Boiler Servicing In The Grant
No. You are responsible for the yearly servicing payment yourself.
A boiler service should cost you around £60.
DO NOT LOOK THE GIFT HORSE IN THE MOUTH!

Does The Boiler Have To Be Faulty To Qualify For The Boiler Replacement Grant?
The boiler has to be below 85% efficiency which most non condensing boilers are. It does not necesarily have to be faulty to qualify for the free grant.
Our engineers have to do a thorough test including Energy efficiency tests, combustion and safeness tests to qualify it.
This does not apply to the Boiler Upgrade Scheme where all home owners can apply.
Can I get a Free boiler if I'm not on benefits?
There is a scheme called LA Flex which allows people not claiming a benefit to qualify as long as they meet other criteria such as low income and health conditions.
A lot of councils have not signed up to this scheme and so many non benefit applications end up in the bin.
Feel free to apply but be aware that over 90% of applications are rejected sorry.

The government recognises that new boilers are very expensive (Average boiler exchange price is £2300) and many people in receipt of low income benefits would not be able to afford to change their boilers without some assistance.
The Boiler grant Scheme has now been running since 2013 and over a million grant boilers have already been installed.

All Boilers That Are Installed By The Free Boiler Grant Scheme are Fitted By Government Approved Installers That Have To Under go Lots Of Tests Before Being Given Access To Funding.

How Much For A New Boiler?
Installing a traditional heating boiler connected to a cylinder will usually cost around £1,700 to £1,900 for the boiler and the install, and slightly more for a combi boiler – up to £2,000.

Who Funds The New Boiler Grant ?
This free boiler grant scheme is funded by the ‘Big Six’ Utility companies.
Eco has been especially set up to help low income households in England, Scotland and Wales, to access funding to install central heating, free insulation, and other heating upgrades.
The money comes from a levy of around £30 which is placed on every household’s electricity bill.
This money is collected by your energy supplier and fed into an ECO fund.
What's the difference between a condensing and non-condensing boiler?
Condensing boilers are around 30% more efficient sometimes more.
Non-condensing boilers are no longer allowed to be installed into UK properties as they are deemed to be significantly less efficient.
Only non condensing boilers are being replaced on the scheme.
How old does my boiler need to be to qualify?
The boiler must usually have been installed prior to April 2005 unless its a back boiler.
What type of boiler will I get?
Normally, a free A-rated condensing gas combi boiler will be fitted on the grant scheme.
My boiler is not old enough for the grant, is there any help elsewhere.
There are charities you can try but we recommend you fund it yourself cheaply.

Are There british gas free boilers for pensioners Not On A Benefit?
There is a scheme called LA Flex that some UK councils are signed up to which allows people to apply for the Free Boiler without having to be on a benefit. The scheme is very sparse though and your council will have its own criteria. We recommend you make an application and we will try to assist you.
